"Yes look we're missionaries". FINALLY, I've grown a foot or 2 😊
I take my ice cream seriously :)
Amber taught us self defense moves so y'all better watch out cause ....We SISTERS "COMIN' FOR YOU! HIDE YOUR KIDS, HIDE YOUR WIVES, WE COMIN FOR YOU"
With the gospel of course .... Pssh!
The Kuntzlemans -- Bro Kuntzleman is the REAL hipster!
#relationshipgoals. He still treats her like a queen...he's a real gentleman. Opens her
door and everything. Now all you young men and men and boys got no excuse!
Treat women and young women and girls with the respect they deserve!

❤️HERMANA WALTON & HERMANA Γ„LLOWITZ BFFS FOREVER ❤️πŸ‘―
Illinois sunsets are SO GORGEOUS! TO DIE FOR 😍
Zone preparation day we played ultimate frisbee & volleyball.
"My favorite sport is bolleyball.....ah, no way! Everything you just said is my favorite thing to do." YEAH WE HAD LOTS OF FUN getting farmers tans!
My championship ultimate frisbee team would be happy to know we WON today! Y'all would be proud! Yeah co-diddy you would be!!!!
The Elders are hilarious! They cooked us burgers and stuff. I was like "whaaaat? For freeeeeeee? For me???" πŸ˜‚ They're all super respectful. It's nice all the Elders in the mission are so nice and respectful. They take care of us. See again.....boys and men you can still be respectful of women...it's possible!!! The Elders in the icwm ( Illinois Chicago West Mission) are the best!
(I've had enough of the sisters though πŸ˜‚ If I don't get another hug until the day I die I'll be fine.

Being a missionary is like being a parent.  Pieces of my heart are broken b/c my investigators, "my children",  don't wanna make the changes and choices needed. They just drop you like it's hot sometimes. Dang, Satan needs to just BACK OFF! Yes it's hard to make changes to fully repent, but it is SO WORTH IT !!! People slip or disappoint you and it hurts, but it's exactly what happened to the Savior.   Except I'm only experiencing a small piece of what he experienced. I know the Savior gets me and knows EXACTLY what I'm feeling. That's so comforting. I'm so grateful for my wonderful big Brother whose always looking out for me.   Jesus... EVERYONE NEEDS HIM!

Sometimes people say things that really get my Spirit bruised. Ya know...things that are not in harmony with God and the Savior's teachings. But my spirit heals through uplifting music (no I don't mean Macklemore) and scriptures and, most importantly, PRAYER.

I got to use my Rindercella story in a teaching my comp and I had been asked to do at a district meeting. It was seriously the greatest.
Everyone was so confused. But they got it after I explained how it relates to missionary work. You see we're working on getting names from members and turning them into referrals cause missionaries LOVE referrals (solid investigators).  Just like Rindercella's shoe "fidn't dit",  not all the "who do you know" questions or ways to get referrals is gonna work for everyone.  It's not gonna fit everyone cause everyone's different.  So I told everyone they needed to SPICE up the way they ask for referrals and make it more personal.  But seriously, y'all should've seen everyone's faces haha.

So many of my friends are getting "mawwied" or already married and I'm sooo happy for all of y'all! And it also scares me cause I can't even pick what cereal I wanna buy let alone pick a Celestial hubby.
I'm for reals..."is it gonna be cocoa pebbles or cracklin oat bran?ooooh marshmallow Mateys?" A few weeks ago I bought cereal just cause it had Dory and Superman on it.  How old am I?  Haha, mawwiage is a big deal! How wonderful for those of you getting married soon...how exciting!

I'm where Joseph Smith and early saints were martyred. They sacrificed so much so that I and so many missionaries worldwide could be out spreading the gospel.  For that, I am eternally grateful!

We got Union Dairy Cedarcrest ice cream THREE times this week.   Ah it just makes me so happy!  Whoever said money can't buy happiness surely never tried this celestial ice cream.

Sis. Jeffrey made us like 1000 skirts it was awesome! I asked her if she could mend a few skirts for me, then before we knew it she made us a lot of skirts! She is so wonderful.  And I am really grateful for her skills and help. What a tender mercy!  Now I don't have to wear black all the time.

Aaron is gonna be baptized Saturday and I'm sooo happy!
Within just a few weeks he's been taught and baptized. He picked his own date and everything. He just straight said, "hey I wanna be baptized."  I was like, "wait what? Did I hear you correctly?" Haha you don't hear that too often.  So I'm PUMPED.  He's been through a LOT, but really come so far.  I'm happy for him and his wife.
More pictures of that to come next week:)

I was reading in Mosiah about the Savior and all he went through for us to be here. It's one of my favorites now. The Atonement is sooo real and can be used everyday and should be. I am beyond grateful for the Savior in my life.  I love being apart of the Lord's work.

Mosiah Chapter 14
1 Yea, even doth not Isaiah say: Who hath believed our report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground; he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Love to hear any questions, comments,  questions  or things y'all would like to hear more about.

INVESTIGATOR PICKS OWN DATE TO BE BAPTIZED

When we knock ppl always yell, "who is it" instead of opening the door

*** on date = on date to be baptized
Aaron
Is on date for May 28!!! He picked May 24 but we had to move it. That's good cause we'll have some time to teach him more and make sure he's really prepared for his baptism. He's so solid!  He's been getting prepared for awhile now. He just got married and really wants to make changes in his life. I'm so excited to see him be baptized! He's always at church and family home evening and always really great at participating and he wants to. He's ready to be dunked!  SERIOUSLY though... who picks their own date?! Haha that's crazy amazing!!!   I'm PUMPED!!!
Duane
Was super solid and golden but we haven't been able to be in communication with him. Satan & his buddies seem to be working on him cause things have totally changed!  It makes me sad cause people have been planting seeds with him for a long time now and he's so ready! He's on date for May 28, but since we cannot get in touch with him idk if that'll work.
Eric
He's on date for May 21 but same thing.   It's been hard having lessons with him...to even be set up.  There's some things he's struggling with but he's working slowly, but surely, through them.

My companion and I sang this song at the beginning of our studying today.  It's always been one of my favorites cause everytime there's something so profound I get out of it.
I wanna challenge each of y'all to ask yourself everytime you act ..."IF THE SAVIOR STOOD BESIDE ME, WOULD I DO THE THINGS I DO?!" Cause the Savior is with us always. He's the BEST company (as well as the Holy Ghost) we'll ever have so let's treat HIM like it instead of living in ways we are ashamed of!
YES...we'll all make mistakes.  No one is perfect,  but we can strive to do the best we can. DON'T compare yourself to other people! Compare yourself to who you were  yesterday! It is possible to become better. Keep it up! This life isn't easy, but it's so worth it!

If the Savior Stood Beside Me
1.
If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do?
Would I think of His commandments and try harder to be true?
Would I follow His example? Would I live more righteously
if I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?
2.
If the Savior stood beside me, would I say the things I say?
Would my words be true and kind if He was never far away?
Would I try to share the gospel? Would I speak more rev’rently
if I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?
3.
He is always near me, though I do not see Him there,
And because He loves me dearly, I am in His watchful care.
So I’ll be the kind of person that I know I’d like to be
if I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me.

I'd also like to invite y'all to go to "Preach My Gospel".  You can find it in the Gospel Library app.   Go to chapter 6 "Christlike Attributes".  At the very end of the chapter there is an "Attribute activity"--do that and then pick a Christlike attribute to work on. Will y'all do that? I know you all said YES so Goodluck & lemme know how it goes:)  I'm excited for each of you!!!!

I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT this Church is sooooo true & I'm soooo grateful for it in my life. I know I am where I need to be and that God has a plan for Each of you. So stay strong and remember to be more Christlike and strive for perfection! I know Christ loves each of us cause he suffered for each of us individually. He knows our trials, struggles, and weaknesses.  It's through Christ we''re made strong. I love being a missionary!

Love always,

I hope all Y' ALLS 4th of May was awesome :)
More of Sister Merkle! Oh I love her! She's so spunky and sassy #elderlywomangoals
She always has the coolest lipstick on! πŸ’„πŸ‘ŒπŸΏ
Lincoln -Douglass debate site !!!! This is RIGHT where the debate took place.  "Look where you're standing...Chester Copperpot..."

Skyping the fam was the BEST part of Mothers Day!!!    AM SOOOO GRATEFUL for ALL the Mothers & powerful positive influences I have in my life all around me!!! Y'all better remember how amazing woman are!   RESPECT THEM:)
This is from district lunch when we taught Ryan about the gospel!  It was epic!!!!!
When people tell me they don't wanna learn about Jesus my response is something like,
"Seriously?! How do you know if you haven't tried it? You can't have 's'more if you haven't had any yet!"  Geez Willis πŸ˜‚  ..."You have not been baptized??  Well let's change that" πŸ˜πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰
I keep telling them to "come learn more about Christ's restored church upon the earth. This is some GREAT stuff that'll change your life for the better forever!"  No invitation goes wasted!  If any of y'all have people who have the same mindset, my advice to you... KEEP INVITING THEM!  One of these days it'll really click for them & they'll come & be baptized.  I've seen it happen!

FAIR WEATHER vs STRONG ALL-YEAR FAN ...what's the difference ? Take a look to find out...

Went to Chinese place for District lunch last week. Hermana Walton called to this guy who was sitting alone to come sit by all of us. She has no fear.   He came and ALL 9 of us missionaries taught Ryan about the gospel. It was so awesome! He said he's not interested now, but the spirit was SOOOOOO strong & the power God gives us to speak the things needed in the very hour you need them is soooo powerful!!!! I experienced it several times when I opened my mouth to share a piece of the gospel with him along with the other missionaries. It may be scary sharing the gospel sometimes, but God will help us.  I KNOW He will...I've seen it happen with me soooo many times. This is just one of the times I've seen it. Sharing the gospel is so cool! You just feel soooo awesome!

Bert made us apple dumplings and HOLY COW, y'all.   They're AMAZING!!!!! They're among the celestial things I've eaten here in Illinois.

I was reading in D&C 6:36  "Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not." Reminds me of when athletes coaches always say, "keep your eye on the ball! Stay focused!"  We need to look to God and the Savior the same way.  WE MUST KEEP OUR eyes & focus towards the Savior because He's the center of all we do. And it reminded me of one of my favorite quotes: "NEVER let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game".  Don't be afraid that mistakes you make will keep you from the Savior's help, love, & guidance cause it won't.  He LOVES you & He'll ALWAYS, ALWAYS be there to catch us when we fall. He's ALWAYS there to carry us when life's hard. He loves us.

In her recent talk Sis Mulnix talked about "fair weather" testimonies vs  all-the-time solid testimonies and related it to baseball fans.   It's soooo important that we are ALL THE TIME fans of CHRIST and not fair weather fans.  If we're "fair weather" Jesus fans then our testimonies slowly, but surely, falter cause our focus isn't in the place it should be. Like it says in Helaman 5:12 "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer,  who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." When we have that firm foundation (aka our lives centered in Christ), everything else falls into place & we will have a SOLID testimony and surety when trials and storms of life come (which they will--let's be real--they do everyday).  Everything will be ok because we decided before to stand strong and put our faith in Christ. And as we continue to do that Nephi declared:  “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life” (2 Nephi 31:20).  We WILL BE BLESSED & have ETERNAL life!!!

Missionary work is way hard sometimes but it's also so glorious because I feel closer to Christ and Heavenly Father than I've ever been before. Missions are a time where we, as missionaries, get shattered to pieces (our old selfs) and the people God knows we can be  (our new selves) emerge.  We just forgot cause the world tells ppl stupid stuff about ourselves that isn't true.  Our new selves  "RISE ABOVE" the old self and become better. On missions you get to see people change & it's really cool to see them become better,  but you also get to see yourself change and grow, and it's so cool!  Missionaries help others with their eternal salvation, but we are also helping ourselves with our own eternal salvation. God is great.

Illinois is finally warming up --ish haha.
I love it here.  The people here are what make it so wonderful! You meet some of the coolest people on your mission.  And some crazies too haha, but that's life.

I know this church IS TRUE WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!!!!

May 2, 2016

My wonderful lovely companion sister Turner ❤️❤️❤️❤️I seriously love her !!!! We're basically twins cause we have soooo much in common! AND we twinned in colors for our outfits today !
Sis. Havey!!! Love her ❤️ We are still in the same district. Isn't she beautiful? She's for shizzles the best!!!
Selfie time ... Sister Griffin (ah she's so precious! I love her and Presidente soooo much!) Sister Shepard, me, and Sister Havey!
Yeah, this is Bro Glass holding up his cat ....this may not seem normal to you but oh it sure is normal to Brother Glass... This is how he "rewards" his cat.. Don't ask why...we just "nod and wave boys , nod and wave"πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Some peoples kids I can't even....Yeah I made the mistake of asking Bro Glass what he did when he was our age.  He smiled and got all excited & then grabbed his cat ...and " whoop der it is..."

We found this cool graffiti park by this busy road.   We took lots of cool pics!!!! Yeah it was a dangerous adventure--awesome!!!

Many of y'all have been asking me if I have any interesting/cool/funny stories.  Well y'all sure picked the right week to ask cause--oh boy this week was crazy.....Y'all thought I got called to the U.S. YEAH RIGHT.....***this may be too explicit for grandmas and young children πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰πŸ˜Last week at FHE Brother McDonald was talking about these meds he has to take and said, "all old people are drug addicts anyway". Haha it made me laugh, especially because it makes sense. Drum roll please---I just witnessed my 1st drug deal on the mission.  Yeah I'm not even kidding with y'all right now.  This did happen and it was on my mission BUCKET LISTπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸŒΏπŸŒΏπŸŒΏπŸŒΏ We were knocking on a potentials door, but she wasn't home. We were about to walk back to the car when all of a sudden we see this old guy in the next yard.  We go over and start talking to him while he and this other guy are talking about all kinds of drugs and the "exchange" happened.   It was epic!  Haha, don't worry I ain't about that drug life.  EW SARA EW haha!  The guy who was buying the weed was interested in what we had to say, so it was interesting talking to him cause he said he was atheist.   After asking him why he's atheist and talking more about the gospel we came to find out he wasn't atheist he just denied things he believed cause of his actions.  Makes me sad.  I've smelled so much weed on my mission, it's insane. I thought it would be really cool to witness this happening (It's ok Gma C.  I know you're probably shaking your head.  But it's ok. It's part of the mission life...even though "wickedness never was happiness" hehe.)

It's sad to see people so wrapped up in drugs and other things that have them so desperate and keep them away from their families. Satan is soooo real & he & his buddies are happy when we fail and sin.  I PROMISE EACH OF YOU reading this--there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, lemme say it again in case you missed it--there is ALWAYS a way out of sin & mistakes.  How you might ask???  WELL THROUGH THE SAVIOR OF COURSE!!!! "Through Christ ALL things are possible!" I know that's so true! I've seen it so evident in my life. Regardless of what I've done or where I've been the Savior is always there for me & he does the same for each & everyone of us! So PRAY.   "When life gets too hard to stand, KNEEL." And DON'T DO DRUGS EVER!!!!
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 -- keep your body clean so the spirit can dwell there or else you're gonna have to have some big talks with the big man upstairs. So STAY CLEAN!!!!

ICWM was Elder Perry's  last assignment before he died.  Whoa this must be the promised land then πŸ˜‚ jk.  I wonder what ICWM is gonna be like in the next 5-10 years?  It is gonna be HOPPING w/ members! This really is Zion πŸ˜πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Missions are tough so sometimes you gotta treat yourself--like buying fruity pebbles and donuts or ice cream πŸ˜‚ Cause ya know someone said money can't buy happiness, but they must've never bought fruity pebbles!

Here's some great scriptures I read this week:

Mosiah 3:20
"And moreover, I say unto you, that the time shall come when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread throughout every nation, kindred, tongue, and people." That is today.  There's THOUSANDS of missionaries in places all over the world.  Amazing huh!

Mosiah 4:11
"And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel."
IF YOUVE TASTED THE GOODNESS OF THE GOSPEL THEN WHY NOT SHARE IT WITH OTHERS???! WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT!!!!  So go & do & share the gospel!

Pres Griffin  interviewed me and asked, "Is Freeport Zion?"  I said, "oh yes!"  He said, "well good, that's when I know it's time to transfer people. I said, "Nooooo!" Haha, he told me not to worry. More than likely I'll be leaving Freeport at the end of May.  I can feel it in my bones.  It's happy and sad.  But life goes on:)  As Celine Dion would say, "near, far, wherever you are you'll always be in my heart"❤️πŸ˜‚ For REALS , these Freeporters will ALWAYS have a special spot in my heart ❤️❤️❤️

My comp calls the fat rolls "happy rolls", lol cause of all the "happy foods" we eat when missions are hard. Hey at least I'm happy right? πŸ˜‚

Oh my goodness, the Reid's fed us steaks πŸ˜  They're an awesome family!!!!  I love them!!! They tell about "Gma MULNIX".  She seriously haunts their house.  I am learning Heavenly Father doesn't want me to watch some of the really horrifying lives I've watched in the past.  Yeah missions have a way of teaching you things about yourself and your life that you need to change! It may be a slap in the face sometimes but it's needed :)

I am currently serving in the 2nd biggest area in the ICWM!!! It's pretty legit!

STAY STRONG!!!  I know life is really hard sometimes, but I KNOW it gets better. Why do I know that??  Well because just as when you're hiking and you "get" to overcome the HUGE part of the mountain we can do that in life too.  We have HUGE mountains in life but we CAN RISE ABOVE them and see the beautiful other side of the mountains. Trials bring more beautiful things into our lives! They bring lots of blessings! Even through the crappy days, I LOVE being a missionary!!!!

I love you all! Thanks for all the letters and support! One day last week, I got 5 letters in one day.  HOLY COW it made my day!!!! I am sooo loved beyond measure.  Heavenly Father has made me SO aware of that because of the wonderful people he's placed in my life and in my path. THANK YOU. THANK YOU!!!!! Stay wonderful my lovely people!  Y'all have a blessed week! I'd love to hear how life is going or missionary experiences you're having! GET OUT & SHARE the gospel!!!!!
